E-Learning Technical Advisor:

The Kaizen Company (www.thekaizencompany.com), an incubator for innovative, scalable solutions that address emerging market challenges and opportunities, seeks a candidate for a short-term, E-Learning Technical Advisor role, in support of the USAID funded ‘Learning Links Program’ initiative in Liberia. As a part of the ‘Learning Links Program’, the E-Learning Technical Adviser will adapt the existing Alternative Basic Education (ABE) curriculum into an engaging, user-centered SMS format in order to enhance tutor-student educational outcomes and facilitate the reenrollment of out of school youth back into school. The E-curriculum Technical Adviser will also support the project’s partners to integrate the SMS platform with existing, in-person education methodologies. The position requires an innovative individual with a passion to combat global education challenges. Illustrative responsibilities and qualifications for the position are listed below:

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop the project’s SMS e-curriculum using the existing Alternative Basic Education (ABE) curriculum, including the establishment of a learning agenda, desired outcomes, and impact indicators
  • Develop coursework that is designed with the end user in mind and incorporate the key strengths of the existing digital and educational ecosystem.
  • Lead curriculum analysis to promote evidence-based programming and provide timely feedback in relation to project targets, work plan activities and objectives, and address gaps in the existing curriculum
  • Design key project assessments in partnership with other technical staff and project partners
  • Provide technical assistance and training to project partners to strengthen their understanding and application of the E-Learning tools
  • Work with partner organization staff to identify best practices for integrating the SMS curriculum with in-person exams and workbook evaluation

Key Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in education or a related field in West Africa or similar contexts, including at least 3 years of demonstrated experience in e-learning programming (learning assessment, classroom observation, and related methodologies)
  • Experience developing and implementing E-learning initiatives for development projects; experience with USAID is desired
  • Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Liberia’s education sector and stakeholders is strongly desired; familiarity with various SMS platforms and the MNOs in Liberia is a plus.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office, SPSS, Access and Excel; experience with data visualization programs is a plus
  • Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills
  • English fluency, both written and spoken, is required
