Kaizen was awarded in November 2021 the USAID Supporting Civil Society Engagement in the Local Development Process (“the Activity”). The Activity builds on previous USAID/Djibouti investments and aligns with the U.S. Mission’s Integrated Country Strategy (ICS) Goal #3 – under Mission Objective 3.3: The Djiboutian public understands values such as good governance and freedom of expression as a result of partnerships with the U.S. mission.
The Activity also aligns with the Djiboutian government's strategy through the Djibouti 2035 vision. The main objective of the four-year project is to provide technical assistance to strengthen the organizational and operational capacities of key local development actors, including local authorities in the interior regions and civil society organizations.
The project aims to:
IR1: Strengthen the Enabling Environment for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
IR2: Increase the Capacity and Effectiveness of CSOs to collaborate and coordinate with each other and government agencies.
IR3: Prevent and Mitigate Gender-Based Violence (GBV) with Special Emphasis on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Position Description
The Kaizen Company is seeking a qualified Technical Consultant for the Prevention of Gender Violence (GBV) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) activity. The Consultant will report to the Technical Manager of IR3 components or his/her designee. The role requires providing technical expertise and practical experience in gender equality initiatives, specifically focusing on preventing and responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Key responsibilities include engaging stakeholders through meetings, training, and workshops, supporting research and report drafting, and offering logistical and financial assistance for field activities. The position also involves ensuring coordination across various teams, contributing to advocacy efforts, and handling additional duties to support project implementation, with frequent travel to regional areas.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Technical Expertise and Implementation
Provide technical expertise, knowledge, practical experience, and cross-cutting skills relevant to gender equality and empowerment initiatives. on strategies for the prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Stakeholder Engagement
Support the organization of coordination and monitoring meetings with stakeholders (MFF, UNFD, and GBV/FGM Cluster).
Prepare documents and presentations to facilitate stakeholder interactions.
Support the development and implementation of training programs for stakeholders.
Contribute to facilitating awareness workshops and seminars.
Support tasks under Objectives 2 and 3 that overlap or complement Objective 1.
Has knowledge of Kaizen's internal procedures and company policies.
Research and Reporting
Provide research and technical support as assigned.
Contribute to drafting technical reports and supporting advocacy initiatives
promoting gender equality.
Financial and logistical Support during field training activities
Assist with financial tasks as needed, including processing payments and allowances for partners and participants during field training activities.
Coordinate with the operations team and act as the focal point to resolve logistical issues during field training activities.
Other Responsibilities
Perform other duties assigned to support the execution of project activities. Be able and willing to travel extensively to the five regions.

Minium Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in project coordination or a similar role, with a proven track record of managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms. Fluency in French is required, and proficiency in English is highly desirable.
Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to work professionally and amicably with colleagues, implementing and cooperating partners, CSOs, and government agencies. A team player who can build and maintain positive relationships in a culturally diverse environment.
Experience with USAID: Prior experience working on USAID-funded activities, including familiarity with USAID policies and procedures.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking with demonstrated ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.
Writing Skills: Excellent writing skills, with experience drafting memos and reports. Strong preference for candidates with prior experience in preparing professional documents for international development projects.
Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple tasks with precision, ensuring adherence to deadlines and project objectives.
Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
